Structural Engineers - Plymouth

We are currently recruiting permanent, full-time Senior Structural Engineers. The roles will entail working on an interesting portfolio of projects, within the residential, retail, education, commercial offices, and mixed-use building sectors.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Undertake engineering analysis and prepare calculations for structural and civil engineering projects;
  • Ensure that delivery of projects is to time, cost and quality;
  • Regular use of a range of technical analysis and design software;
  • Provide technical support including report writing and presentations;
  • Manage projects from inception to completion, including liaising with clients and contractors
  • Attend Site and Design Meetings;
  • Mentor and train junior members of staff.

Successful candidates will be:

  • Chartered structural engineer, through IStructE or ICE ideally, or working towards chartership;
  • Relevant degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng, BSc, MSc, or MEng);
  • Competent in design using common forms of construction (concrete, steel, masonry and timber);
  • Proven track record of technical delivery of civil and structural engineering design projects;
  • Analysis of structures and detailed design of elements utilising various internationally recognised standards;
  • Customer-focused with a high level of communication and management skills;
  • Good analytical and organisational skills;
  • High level of computer proficiency
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.

Brody Forbes are recruiting skilled GRP Laminators and GRP finisher/repair men for the production of small parts for the marine industry.

The ideal candidates must have experience in:

  • Wet-Lay Process
  • Using bonding pastes
  • Understanding Engineering Drawings
  • Use of hand tools.
  • Identify laminating defects.
  • Gel and Fibreglass repairs
  • Working to the highest possible standards and to tight deadlines

The ideal candidate must be willing to work away and hold the following qualifications:

  • City & Guilds Inspection, Testing & Certification Of Electrical Installations
  • City & Guilds 18th Edition (required)

Ideally the candidate will have a minimum of five years’ supervisory experience in the electrical industry and be able to demonstrate their knowledge and expertise in the field.

Responsibilities and Duties include:

  • Ensuring all work is carried out to the relevant standards and are compliant with all the relevant statutory requirements
  • Designing, implementing, maintaining and improving electrical products and systems
  • Generating electrical design drawings
  • Performing feasibility studies for industrial, domestic and commercial technical developments
  • Overseeing all electrical installation, maintenance and inspection work
  • Calculating project costs and delivery timelines
  • Assisting the Project Management Team with collating documentation and information for the O&M documentation
  • Collaborating with clients and other stakeholders

Duties and Responsibilities:

Complete works as set out by the Civils Supervisor responsible for overseeing the project.

You must be able to demonstrate your experience in:

  • Site clearance
  • Excavating for foundations
  • Installation of drainage
  • Pouring and finishing of concrete foundations
  • Using equipment and tools effectively to perform Groundworks and construction tasks
