The Rock, RAF Gibraltar

An exciting and challenging radar tower project on top of the of Rock of Gibraltar.

Brody Forbes were instructed by its client, Thales ATMS, to design, fabricate and install two steel radar towers on The Rock, in Gibraltar. The design and construction included an integrated equipment cabin within the footprint of the tower.

The design needed to take into account the limitations on site which meant no large vehicles or plant were able to access the site.  The site works also involved the design and installation of ground anchors to support the new structures.

In addition to this, we also carried out the design, fabrication and installation of a temporary landing platform to enable the RAF to airlift equipment into place.  

Brody Forbes then undertook the dismantling and removal from site of an old existing radar tower.

We had several helpful visits from the local monkeys, much to the delight of the team!
